Soak up the last days of summer!
There is something magical about summer in Calgary. The days are long, the light is golden, and the time seems to fly by. Summer may be fleeting but you still have time to make the most of this precious season. The Vertica Resident Services blog team has some fun ways to soak up the last days of summer!
Cycle through Eau Claire Park
You can ride to Eau Claire Park from Discovery in less than 5 minutes. Peddle or stroll west along the Bow River Pathway, or go east to through Eau Claire Park to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. Follow the Elbow River Pathway south and take in the shimmering view of the water, the downtown skyline and the Saddledome from ENMAX Park.
Take a seat on the patio
About a 10 minute stroll across the Bow River, you’ll find the Oak Tree Tavern (124 10 St NW). This informal and relaxed watering hole has a nice elevated patio that's the perfect place to enjoy a drink and some pub grub with friends. You can also head inside for comedy, bingo and live music nights. If you’re more in the mood for Italian food and a good glass of wine, take a 10 minute walk from Discovery to Bonterra Trattoria (1016 8 St SW). They have great food and lovely patio. Another great place to sip and savour on a late summer evening.
Make a Splash
Sometimes, nothing but a refreshing swim will do. When the late summer sun is shining strong, grab your trunks, your goggles and your sunscreen and take a 5 to 10 minute drive from Discovery to Bowview Outdoor Pool (1910 6 Ave NW). They have clean, family-friendly facilities. A dip in the pool is the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.
The Vertica blog team hopes that this post helps you make the most of the late summer sun this season! For information on Vertica Rental Properties in Calgary, including the bright, airy, and spacious suites of Discovery (1121 6 Ave SW), please visit our website.
