Get into the groove at Mundial Montréal
Montréal is not only one of the most influential cultural hotbeds in Canada, it’s one of the most influential in the world. The 8th edition of Mundial Montréal is North America’s World Music Summit. It’s your chance to experience some of the best-kept secrets and most promising new artists in World Music. The Vertica Resident Services blog team wants to help you get into the groove at Mundial Montréal, from November 8th to 16th.
About the Festival
This annual music summit serves as a springboard for the exceptional talent emerging from the World Music scene. For artists, it’s an opportunity to network and connect with the industry through dedicated showcases, networking events and panels. For the public, it’s an opportunity to discover the best and brightest in World Music, before they are discovered by the world.
About the Music
At Mundial Montréal, it’s all about the music. Talented and hungry emerging artists from across the country and around the world have earned themselves a 25 minute showcase to perform for the public, as well as key industry professionals. Showcases from previous editions have helped launch the careers of Kid Koala, A Tribe Called Red, Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Alex Cuba and many more!
There are over 30 showcases to enjoy and experience, including a free afternoon showcase.
Each showcase is dedicated to the artist, meaning no two showcases compete with each other. It is very possible to catch each and every showcase at Mundial Montréal. The best way to do that is with a Festival Passport. The $80 Passport gets you access to all shows and panels at the festival. Check out the complete schedule and get ready for a jam-packed week of World Music!
If you can only attend a single night of the festival, you may want to make it on the infamous Back-And-Forth Thursday Night Showcase. The event is taking place on November 15th at 2 great venues: L’Astral (305 Sainte Catherine Street West and le Gesù (1200 rue BLEURY). The two venues are just around the corner from each other. Their proximity is key because every 25 minutes you’ll be grabbing your coat and heading back and forth between the two venues for back-to-back showcases! It’s a fun and unique way to experience a slice of Mundial Montréal. Tickets are only $15 and are available now.
