Montreal Jazz Festival is back!
The Montreal International Jazz Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated events on the Montréal festival calendar. This year, the Festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Our team wants to get you into the groove of it all. The Montréal Jazz Festival is back, from Thursday, June 27th until Saturday, July 6th, 2019.
This year’s edition of the Montréal Jazz Festival attracts over 2 million visitors every year with hundreds of concerts at various venues over its 10-day run. Many of the concerts at Quartier des Spectacles are free, as well as free family-friendly activities.
New this Year
While Quartier des Spectacles continues to be the central site of the Festival, this year it will begin expanding into new festival centres called “Hubs”. The Hubs are designed to promote contact and community in the spirit of inclusion and integration and will be accessible free of charge. A new Hub will be created each year for the next 5 years, beginning in 2019.
Along with all the free shows, there are many high-profile ticketed concerts to enjoy. Here are few highlights to look forward to.
Norah Jones will take the stage at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts (175 Ste. Catherine St. West) on day one of the Festival, on Thursday, June 27th at 7:30 pm. Since her debut release of Come Away With Me in 2002, Nora Jones has sold 50 million albums worldwide and won 9 Grammys.
Holly Cole Trio
Legendary Canadian jazz vocalist Holly Cole reunites with the original Holly Cole Trio -- featuring David Piltch on bass and Aaron Davis on piano. They will perform a series of shows on July 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the intimate Cabaret Lion d'or (1676 Ontario St. East) .
Buddy Guy and Colin James
If you’ve got a case of the end-of-Festival blues, let legendary blues artists Buddy Guy and Colin James soothe your soul. Their show closes out the Festival on July 6th, 7:30 pm at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts.
